County of Simcoe Warden Tony Guergis expressed his support today and congratulations to Simcoe County resident and Collingwood native Drew Wright on his success to date as he continues his bid to become the next Canadian Idol.

Wright is one of the top six remaining contestants who will perform on the Canadian Idol television show Monday evening. Viewers will be invited to vote for their favourite idol after the performance, and then, based on results of that voting process, one contestant will be eliminated during the broadcast Tuesday evening.

“I truly believe that the strength of Simcoe County is our people and this is a great example of that philosophy at work,” stated Warden Guergis. “Drew exemplifies the spirit of individuals who make this a great place. I congratulate him on his success and I encourage Simcoe County residents to support Drew as he continues his climb.”

John Gabriele is leading the Collingwood community in support of Drew.

“Having the support of the Warden of Simcoe County is tremendous for Drew because this will help get the attention of so many residents who might not have been involved before and that means more votes for Drew,” stated Gabriele.

“The only way we can get Drew to the next level is for everyone to phone in and vote. I would like to thank Warden Guergis for giving us his support and encouragement.”

The Idols, including Wright, will perform Canadian rock hits on the ‘Top Six Performance Show’ which airs on CTV starting at 9 p.m. this Monday.

“This is very exciting for our community,” stated Warden Guergis. “Simcoe County is home to many world champions and we should be proud of Drew. I want to encourage everyone to watch Drew’s performance and to vote for him to make it to the next level. Let’s celebrate another great person in our community!”
