1st Thornbury Guides spent their meeting last week participating in Pitch-In Canada.

The girls cleaned up the road from Hwy 26 at Goldsmith's corner, through to Bruce Street. 

Although the unit has maintained this section for a number of years, this year, they collected the most garbage.  It was a little demoralizing for the girls.  With all the talk of everyone doing their part to keep our little section of the planet clean and green, it is obvious that the message hasn't reached everyone.

The girls pitched in with fun and laughter, to make the event an enjoyable outing for us all.  The beer cans and bottles were seperated and donated to a cause building hospitals in third world countries.

Thornbury Guiding units also collect cellphones for recycling.  Receptacles are located at the Thornbury and Clarksburg Post offices, the town hall, Thornbury Pharmacy and the landfill site, to name a few. 

By recycling your old cellphones we reduce harmful toxins in our landfill and proceeds remain in our community.  Every little bit helps!
