It's been a long hard winter, but spring has finally arrived, and to mark the occasion, the Beaver Valley Concert Society will present its final concert of the season on Sunday May 4, at 7:30 p.m., (Please note the previously published date and time of this concert have been changed) at Grace United Church, 140 Bruce Street, Thornbury.
This is a magical time of year when poets wax lyrical, songwriters compose hallelujahs, and a young man's fancy supposedly turns to love, and this concert, entitled If Music be the Food of Love, and performed by PAGE TWO & FRIENDS, will explore the eternal springtime theme of romantic love in words and music.
The programme covers an eclectic selection from Canadian poetry to Shakespeare, from Purcell to Sondheim, fusing trumpet, piano, soprano, and the spoken word into a delightful bouquet of poetry and song.
Garry Page and his wife Anne Marie are seasoned performers. They have appeared in musical theatre in London's West End, and Garry has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford, England. Garry and Anne Marie will be joined by soprano Jamie Ray-Farrar, and Stratford, Ontario actor Xuan Fraser.
Their programme will be the finale in the 18th season for the BVCS, a season already distinguished for presenting a fascinating range of first-rate music and musicians.
