New washrooms and a new entrance will be added to the Ravenna Community Hall thanks to a $55,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The town will put up another $30,000 for the project. That money will come from a reserve for small community halls.
The project will see a 20-foot by 20-foot addition to the building to house two barrier-free washrooms and a barrier-free entrance.
The improvements include installation of a new septic system, removal of the existing front entrance and construction of the addition.
The hall is used for a variety of functions from meetings to craft fairs. It is also the site of an annual Remembrance Day program following a wreath-laying service at the nearby Collingwood Township cenotaph.
Town officials have been looking at installing a new septic system for the adjacent town Public Works headquarters and will look into combining that with the Ravenna Hall septic system.
