Ten people were formally named to a new Agricultural Advisory Committee for The Blue Mountains Monday.
Town council approved a resolution to establish the new committee and appoint members.
The members will serve as volunteers. Originally, the town had planned to have eight members on the committee but Director of Planning Peter Tollefsen recommended appointing all 10 applicants.
"We've got some good people there and we think we should appoint all of them," Tollefsen told council.
Those appointed were Syd Dykstra, Ryan Hayhurst, Jeff Wilson, former mayor Ross Arthur, John Ardiel, Chris Knott, Brad Oakley, Grant McMurchy, James McKinlay and Jacquie Hendry.
The committee will advise the town on a variety of issues related to agriculture, including land planning matters, environmental issues, and right-to-farm concerns in areas where residential or recreational uses are close to agricultural operations.
