Four swans killed at Collingwood Harbour have the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP looking for their killers.

The OPP say they received calls reporting dead swans in the area of Harbourview Trail (between Beech and Birch Street) in Collingwood.

The first two swans were found by some children walking near the harbour on April 2.  Those two underwent an autopsy at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre and evidence revealed they both had died as a result of head injuries. Two more dead swans were found on April 4 and April 6.

Swans are approachable birds when they are being fed by humans and will come within reach. That makes them easy prey, police said.

Police have contacted the Ministry of Natural Resources and an enforcement officer has been assigned to the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or the Ministry of Natural Resources at 1-877-847-7667
