Grey County OPP have charged five men with break, enter and theft in connection with the theft of 12 empty beer kegs from a local ski club.

The theft occurred on Feb. 3, at the Beaver Valley Ski Club on Pioneer Drive, near Kimberley, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.  Twelve empty beer kegs, left over from a Super Bowl party with a value of $600 when returned to a Beer Store outlet, were stolen.

According to police, the kegs eventually made their way to stores in Collingwood, Markdale and Durham where they were returned for their per-unit refund of $50. Grey County OPP became aware of the returns in the course of their investigation and five suspects were eventually identified.

Two teenage boys from Grey Highlands and Melancthon Township were charged with break, enter and theft, while three others from West Grey, ages 17 through 19, were charged with possession of stolen property.

All have been released from custody and are scheduled for upcoming Owen Sound Court dates. The two adults are scheduled to appear on Mar.13, while the three youths are scheduled to appear on Mar. 18
