The Georgian Bay River Rats saw their hockey season come to an abrupt end Friday, after being swept by the Milverton 4-Wheel Drives.

The wins gave Milverton a 4-0 win in the best-of-seven WOAA Senior A first-round playoff series.

Holding a 2-0 series lead, Milverton came to Beaver Valley Arena, Tuesday, and skated away with a 10-4 victory.

Game 4 was back here on Friday, Feb. 22., with the Rats needing a win to extend the series. The home side got off to a good start, building a 3-2 advantage by the end of the first period.

The Drives weren't interested in playing another game, however, and kept up the pressure. Their advantage in manpower eventually overcame the Rats' efforts and Milverton scored another 10-4 win.

Milverton will now await the results of the Durham /Goderich and the Monkton/ Palmerston series to determine who they will play in the Senior A semi-finals. Lucknow is also waiting for those series to be completed. The team which had the highest points in the regular season will play the team with the lowest points and the two remaining teams will play in the other series

In the Senior AA matchups,  Tavistock will play Clinton in one series and Elora will play Saugeen Shores in the other series

The Rats would like to thank their fans and sponsors for their support and would remind them that the Rats are holding a Roast Beef Dinner on Sunday March 2 at 5 p.m. at the Beaver Valley Community Centre.
