New Books
New non-fiction books include The Good Rat by Jimmy Breslin, The thing about life is that one day you’ll be dead by David Shields, Simply delicioso by Ingrid Hoffmann, The War Room by Warren Kinsella, Sugar:  A Bittersweet History by Elizabeth Abbott and High Crimes:  The fate of Everest in an age of greed by Michael Kodas. 

The new fiction title is At a Loss for Words:  a post-romantic novel by Diane Schoemperlen.  For these books and many more, please visit the new book display across from the circulation desk.  Please remember that all books are now signed out for a period of three weeks – even new books.

Canada Blooms Excursion
Once again, an excursion to Canada Blooms - The Toronto Flower and Garden Festival has been arranged by the library Arts Advisory Committee.  Transportation by coach will depart at 8 a.m. from the Beaver Valley Community Centre, Thornbury on Wednesday March 12, and will return at approximately 6:30 p.m. 

Your ticket price of $52.00 includes return coach bus trip, boxed lunch and admission to the show.

Book Talk
Karolyn Smardz Frost, author of I’ve Got A Home in Glory Land, A Lost Tale of the Underground Railroad, will be giving a book talk at the library on Sunday, February 17 at 2 p.m.  Karolyn’s book is the 2007 Governor General’s Award winner for non-fiction. 

Travel Series
Interested in learning more about Australia?   Join us in the Gallery on Thursday February 21st at 7 p.m. when Robert Burcher and Lorraine Sutton will present Wanders in Australia.

Children’s Programs
This is the last week for Preschool story time which takes place on Wednesday mornings from 10:15 – 11:00 a.m.  Join us for stories, songs and a simple craft.  The upcoming session will begins April 2 and runs until May 7, 2008.  For more information and to register please telephone the library at 519-599-3681.
