The Beaver Valley Midget Rep team gave two very strong performances but were eliminated in the first series of the OMHA play downs against Markdale.
Friday Jan. 11 in Markdale, the home team were in the lead 4-0 going into the third period but BV pulled out all the stops to score three, only to fall short 5-3.
Greg Campbell, Adam Fulford, Bryan Kennedy and Mitch Graydon recorded goals. Tyson Perry picked up two assists each with Graydon and Jake Cassidy recording the other assists. Rod Crane played an exceptional game in net.
Game two was at home Mon. ,Jan. 14, a very tight first period resulted in no scoring.
The second period saw the visitors gain a 2-1 lead. Adam Fulford tipped a beautiful shot from Scot Brown off the blue-line. The third brought lots of pressure from both teams. Again, Crane was extrodinary. A marginal call with five minutes left in the game turned the game dramatically. The visitors scored three unanswered goals to take a 5-1 game and the series. The game was costly for Markdale as one player suffered a broken leg.
Friday Jan. 18 the BV and Meaford midget rep teams gathered in Thornbury for a fun-filled game to celebrate their friendship and remember lost teammates and close friends. Pizza and refreshments followed. Thanks to all coaches for making this happen and thanks to all who came out and supported.
