The Beaver Valley Atom Local team traveled to Flesherton on Friday January 18, losing 5-1 in a game characterized by an abundance of penalties for both teams.
The first period saw each team score once. Credit for the Rats' goal went to Jake Stubbs who received great backup from his linemates on this shift, scoring with seven seconds left in the period.
In the second and third periods the referee handed out penalties with regularity. In the third period, the Rats succumbed to their diminished numbers on the ice and Flesherton pulled ahead with four more goals.
On Saturday, January 19, the Beaver Valley team hosted Collingwood #3. The game began with a minute of silence in memory of the five boys our community lost one year ago.
Saturday's game was better for the Atom Local Rats who won this game 5-2, showing that the hard work they've done on passing, teamwork, and backchecking has paid off.
Jonah Neumann started the game off in the first period with an unassisted goal. Collingwood tied it up midway through the second period, which was followed by another goal by Jonah and assisted by Kieran McCrory.
Collingwood brought the score to 2-2 late in the second period, but that was the last one they could put by goalie Jack Christensen.
The third period saw three more Beaver Valley goals: Tanner Grexton assisted by Kieran, Jake Stubbs, and Seth Wildeman assisted by Jake.
Beaver Valley plays their final game of the regular season at home Saturday January 26.
