‘Concerto in the Key of Soul’ was performed in an intimate setting at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library in Thornbury Friday night.
The audience enjoyed passionate interpretations of exceptional and familiar compositions by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart and other classical greats. Musicians included professional pianist Olga Lishansky who was joined in duet by Faythe Pal. Flutists Maggie Arnold and Karen James and soprano performance by Jennifer Potter.
The theme ‘Breaking Down Barriers Through the Power of Music’ was true to form as the music seemed to flow into the souls of everyone present empowering and encouraging the breaking down of all barriers.
The audience began to unwind during this wonderful evening of music which included being treated to delicious gourmet hors d’oeurves and desserts.
Dessert was accompanied by the unique flavour of specialty coffees donated and prepared by Sunshine on a Cloudy Day of Wasaga Beach. Many volunteers donated their time making sure this evening would be one that remains in the memories of those fortunate enough to have attended.
All proceeds of this event including funds raised through a silent auction are being donated to Breaking Down Barriers Independent Living Resource Centre. Breaking Down Barriers has been supporting people of all disabilities in the Georgian Triangle for over 22 years and this event was created by Faythe Pal to support their first campaign which ended August 1.
