The Beaver River Bridge will be closed at least twice next week while crews work on repairs to the bridge's support.

The closures are scheduled between midnight and 4 a.m. for a possible three nights between February 11 and 16.

A news release from The Blue Mountains said the bridge needs remedial work to its support girders and bearing pads and the deck must, therefore, be lifted during the work. The goal is for crews to complete the necessary work in two sessions so that the bridge will only be closed twice, but a third session is scheduled in case it is needed.

The Beaver River Bridge is being rehabilitated with funding from the Ministry of Transportation. The work is necessary, according to town staff, to prolong the life of the bridge.

The second phase of the rehabilitation focuses on repairs to the deck, therefore, crews will have to reduce traffic across the bridge to a single lane. Access from Highway 26 to Hester Street and the Hester Street parking lot will be maintained.
