CEO of Blue Mountain Resort, Gord Canning congratulates Dan Skelton will step up as president of the resort after the retirement of George Weider.

George Weider, son of Blue Mountain founder Jozo Weider, is retiring from his position as chairman of the resort, according to a recent announcement.

Weider took the reigns as president of the resort in 1971 after the death of his father. He became chairman in 1978.

“Although I’m retiring as chairman of the board,  I will continue to be an active participant in the family business as the ownership structure will remain the same,” said Weider in a press release issued early Thursday, June 25.

President and CEO of the resort, Gord Canning will replace George Wieder as chairman of the board of directors and continue as CEO.

Vice President Dan Skelton will step up as president of the resort.
