The boys from the Beaver Valley Tyke team had two disappointing road losses this past week, dropping them out of first place in the South Simcoe Baseball League.

On Monday, six players were away on a school trip so a shortened squad rolled into Mansfield with high hopes but unfortunately came out on the short end of a 15-14 loss. High points at the plate came from Grant Long and Ozzie Catton who got his first hit of the season with a double that scored two runs. Sidney Klein was strong on the mound, making his first ever appearance as one of the team's pitchers.

Saturday, the team went up against a strong first place bunch from Innisfil. The game remained tied through four innings when Innisfil slowly pulled away, winning 11-8. Defensively our kids played well with Grant Long turning a double play in the first. Evan Burgess made a smart fielder's choice getting the runner at first and special mention goes to Tanner Grexton who made a high light reel catch in left field. Offensively, the team was lead by Matt Hawken who stroked a towering shot to right landing him on third with a triple.

The kids are off this week as they prepare for their mid season tournament in New Lowell on Saturday.
