The Beaver Valley Senior Rookies travelled to Stayner on Tuesday, June 9 for the first game in a back-to-back series. Blair Mackey, Zackeri Wren, Cole Dinsmore, Tyler Hawken, Jack Graham, Delaney Campbell, Karissa Bowins, Demeter Lockyer and Elias Andersen had hits off the quick dropping, bullet-like pitches of the Stayner pitching machine. Quick base running and sliding efforts prevented many close outs. Elias displayed fantastic fielding efforts to retrieve many balls and accurately throw them to the infield. The beginning innings were hard fought allowing only single runs, but we suffered a tough 4th inning with Stayner hitting hard balls through the infield and scoring their maximum of four runs. Runs were scored by Cole, Jack, Delaney, Karissa and Demeter in the 8-5 loss.
On Wednesday, June 10 we played against Stayner on our home diamond. Every Beaver Valley player got a hit off our familiar pitching machine. The game swayed back and forth as both teams managed to get the maximum four runs in the first inning and again in the third inning. Delaney, Tyler, Blair, Brenden Gekill-Pendleton and Jack made sensational stretches to trap the ball at first base. Blair, Colton, Adam Conn, Eckhart Politeski and Karissa played great defense around the pitching circle. Demeter showed quick thinking in the 4th inning to catch a fly ball and tag the runner on third for a double play. Stayner persevered in the fifth with a high scoring open inning. BV runs were scored by Blair(2), Jack(3), Delaney(2), Demeter and Colton Hewgill. The final score was 18-9 for Stayner.
