New dates for Depot lecture dates

The Craigleith Heritage Depot announced summer dates for its 2009 lecture series held at the Beaver Valley Community Centre in Thornbury.

On June 29, historian and author, Scott Cameron will be speaking about shipwrecks in a lecture entitled Shipwrecks: Death, Destruction and Disaster on Georgian Bay.

July 27, Elizabeth Myers will give a talk entitled The Remarkable Mrs. Osler, a Victorian Lady of Distinction.

August 31, Dr. David M. Rudkin will speak on Ontario's fabulous fossils, using his experience as the Assistant Curator of Paleobiology at the Royal Ontario Museum.

September 28, Charles Garrad, archaologist, historian and author will be speaking on 370 years of Craigleith.

October 26 Charles Cooper will give an illustrated talk on the North Grey Railway "The Ham in our Pioneer Sandwich."

November 30, retired military LTC Tom Christianson is giving a lecture called Our Bravest and Best: Heroes of the Great Wars.

December 7, Dr. George Weider will be speaking on the history of Blue Mountain.

Lectures are from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $7 per lecture, $10 for couples, $4 for youth. Museum members receive a 10 per cent discount. Tickets are available at the door, at the Depot or at town hall.
