Editor,

A small group of spirited individuals is preparing to host GBSS's 40th Anniversary celebrations on July 4, 2009.  Former students from as far away as Europe, the United States and British Columbia are making the trip to Meaford to catch up with former classmates and reconnect with teachers and their school.  There is a line-up of musical entertainment - mostly grads of GBSS - ready to keep the crowds hopping at the arena.  GBSS Idol finalists will be showcased at the opening ceremonies.  Mr. Bill Cornwall and Mr. Sandy McLeod will lead the line of Principals who will be here to greet students and staff who have shared in the history of this school.

Spread the word  - whether you are a GBSS grad, a MDHS grad, or a Thornbury District High School grad.  It is so easy to lose track of old friends and the memories of great times spent together.  July 3rd  and 4th is the time to reconnect, and what better place than in Meaford - this beautiful town on the shores of  Georgian Bay!

I have been so fortunate to have been involved with this wonderful school, and the communities it serves, since 1972.  This reunion will give me a chance to meet, once again, many of those wonderful students who enriched my life as a teacher, and principal.

Hope to see you there!

Sandy Stevenson
