With regard to the ban of e-bikes on the Georgian Trail, I have discovered that the Ministry of Transportation Ontario has the following to say at their website about e-bikes. In particular I draw your attention to the second point.

5. During the pilot, where can a power-assisted bicycle travel?

* Power-assisted bicycles can travel anywhere a bicycle travels.

* They are permitted on trails and paths where municipal by-laws permit

bicycles

* Power-assisted bicycles, like bicycles are not allowed on

controlled-access highways such as 400 series highways, the Queen Elizabeth Way, the Queensway in Ottawa or the Kitchener-Waterloo Expressway, or on municipal roads, including sidewalks where bicycles are banned under municipal by-laws.

E-bikes cannot be banned from the Georgian Trail unless all bicycles are banned.
