Grey County OPP is continuing to investigate a two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a local man Sunday morning.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Concession Road 10 (Dairy Line) and Grey Road 12 in the Municipality of Meaford at about 7:40 am. The driver's side of a 1996 Ford Windstar van, southbound on Grey Road 12, was stuck by a westbound 2005 Chevrolet Astro van that had entered the intersection from Concession Road 10. Traffic entering the intersection on Concession Road 10, both eastbound and westbound, is stop sign controlled.
Michael Cottenden, 53 of Grey Highlands, the driver of the Ford Windstar, was transported from the scene by ambulance but died later at Grey Bruce Health Services-Meaford from injuries sustained in the crash.
Cottenden was employed as a Range Control Officer at Canadian Forces Training Centre-Meaford.
The driver of the other vehicle, James Hindle, 64 of The Blue Mountains, sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Meaford Volunteer Fire Department and the roadway was closed for a period of time as OPP Technical Traffic Investigators examined the scene for evidence.
