Many of Clarksburg's artists and those of the surrounding area will be participating in one way or another in Artsburg Day on Saturday, July 19 in Clarksburg. The Marsh Street Centre will be having a show and sale from 10 a.m. with pottery, jewelry, watercolours, quilts, oil paintings - you name it. It will be quite a fun filled day! You will doubtless recognize the names of several local artists in this particular show - see how many you recognize.
The entire village is participating and there will definitely be a carnival atmosphere with music and artists working in the open (en plein aire) as well as in their studios. Loft Gallery will be featuring it's Bruce Trail and Niagara Escarpment Show, BeMused, Curio and the new Marsh Street Gallery will all be open with lots for everyone to see. A not to be missed day for people who love art, or just love a great opportunity to get out, meet other members of the community in an inviting atmosphere and enjoy the day.
Relay for Life
Linda Potter is heading up the Marsh Street team in this wonderful fund raiser. If you want to help her or support our team, call her at 599-3649. This is a very moving experience for all who walk, run or otherwise participate in the 12 hour marathon. It is held, as you no doubt know, in many communities all across the country and is indeed a very worthwhile way in which to raise your own awareness and participate in a true community event.
Arrogant Worms tickets starting to move
This zany troupe of musical comics, (or is that comedic musicians?) -The Arrogant Worms - will entertain us on Thursday August 14. They have quite a large following and are an hilarious trio - laugh out loud kind of humour that is completely irreverent. You can get your tickets ($35 each) at the Centre and use your VISA or MasterCard by calling 519 599-7837 and leave a message or speak to Pat McGirr our facility manager between 10 and 2 p.m. Or you can pick them up from Bev Lapointe - 599-5584 or at Jessica's Book Nook, BeMused, Stuff to Read and Balloon Express in Collingwood. I understand that the latter store has helped with decorations - look for some of Bev Lapointe's legendary creativity when you arrive for the performance.
Doors will open at 7 p.m for a wine bar (beer too I believe) the concert starts at 8 and coffee and desserts will also be served at the end of the night. The Worms will be available to autograph CDs and chat with you as well after the performance. I'm positive you'll have a great time - so do get your tickets soon, the summer is just whisking by.
