Local residents, including Mayor Ellen Anderson, came out on Sunday to support Melissa Goldmintz and her squad of eager teenagers as they raised $1,177.35 at their car wash.
All of the proceeds raised from the successful event, which took place in the parking lot of Beaver Valley Community School, are being donated to the Canadian Cancer Society on top of the individual fundraising done by each team member of Smiles for Miles.
The Relay for Life, July 18 at BVCS, provided the reason that the team held the car wash, but that’s not all they’ve got in store for the people of the Town of the Blue Mountains.
This Friday. they are hosting a swim night at the Blue Dolphin Pool in Meaford, and are hoping that they will duplicate the success and raise even more money for the great cause they set out to help.
Smiles for Miles would like to thank a couple sponsors for all of their support as well. Zehrs in Owen Sound, Dairy Queen in Meaford, Ashanti Coffee in Thornbury, Foodland in Meaford, Beaver Valley Community School, and Contract Rental Supply all made the event possible.
