Saturday, June 21 will be a busy day in The Blue Mountains, with the much-anticipated annual St. George's Garden Party Yard Sale during the morning and the extremely popular Fish Fry in the evening.

The Garden Party Yard Sale takes place at St. George's Anglican Church and runs from 8 a.m. until noon. Those attending will find bargains galore while being entertained by the ever-popular Beaver Valley Concert Band.

In addition, a snack bar and barbecue will provide continuous and convenient on-site food and beverage service. Again this year, there will be a wonderful selection of garden plants lovingly raised by Ken Phipps, as well as delectable home baking, a fantastic book selection, and bargains galore.

Among this year's exceptional treasures and collectibles are a cut-glass pedestal plate, antique cups and saucers; brass candle sticks, a silver-rimmed bowl, an beautifully framed floral print, Portuguese pottery, and much more.

A special attraction will be a live auction of major items at 11:00 a.m. featuring a stained-glass chandelier, assorted antiques, various pieces of fine furniture, and a Krug solid Maple dining room suite including a table with three leaves, five chairs and a buffet. Admission to this yearly event is free.

That evening, the annual St. George's Fish Fry will take place on the grounds of St. George's Anglican Church. Traditionally a sellout, the Fish Fry features scrumptious freshly-caught fish, supplied and prepared by Tom Howell of Wiarton, along with delectable salads, rolls and a fantastic selection of home-made pies. Dinner is served continuously from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., permitting diners to arrive at the time most convenient for them.

Entertainment will be provided by guitarist, entertainer and local favourite Walter McGuire.

Tickets for the St. George's Fish Fry are $15.00 per person, or $6 for children 10 and under. Tickets are available at Thornbury Pharmasave and Jessica's Book Nook in Thornbury, the Crow's Nest in Collingwood, and Stuff to Read in Meaford, as well as from St. George's Anglican Church. Tickets will also be available at the event, subject to availability. Advance purchase is recommended as previous Fish Fry dinners have sold out early.

St. George's Anglican Church is located at the junction of Bruce, Russell and Marsh Streets. For more information, contact St. George's Anglican Church at (519) 599-3047.
