"Barn Dance" - two words that bring to mind a kinder, gentler past. 

Happy country folk making their own fun in someone's barn to the dynamic sounds of a live fiddle, guitar and banjo.  Memories of the Tommy Hunter Show or maybe the musical Oklahoma abound!

A local woman - Lorraine Sutton is single handedly creating a barn dance revival in our area.  Hailing from Manitoba but now living in the Beaver Valley, Lorraine has shown hundreds of skeptical locals that Country Dancing (a bigger broader range than just square dancing/and much easier then line dancing) isn't just the realm of dorky people in hoop skirts and string ties! 

No, the new look in Country Dancing has spread to a much younger crowd - the pierced, tattooed and tragically hip youth now see the challenge and joy of actually having to dance with a partner.

Corporate organizations like Creemore Springs and Blue Mountain Resorts have hired Lorraine to kick some country enthusiasm into some of their corporate parties.  Lorraine is also in high demand now for Wedding Dances since she has a great ability to get the two sides of the family event to mingle and meet through some of her social mixer dances.

Due to popular demand for repeat dances, Lorraine has started a quarterly seasonal dance in the Marsh St. Center in Clarksburg that acts as a fundraiser for local charity groups.  They love it because it becomes a SOLD OUT event.  Also these events are usually alcohol free so they become a truly family event!  Watch for the next one coming in the fall and make the jump into an old time fun entertainment!

Lorraine always says that if you can walk and if you know your right hand from the left - you can Country Dance!
