The Village at Blue Mountain Foundation announced this week that it would be supporting the Beaver Valley Outreach, school readiness program "Hip and Cool Start School".
Foundation coordinator Deb Piggott said they supported the program because of its solid track record and the impact it has on the community.
Beaver Valley Outreach (BVO) is a registered charity and is a community-based organization of volunteers headed by an Executive Director and managed by a Board of Directors. Since 1983, the mandate of BVO has been to assess gaps in services in the Town of The Blue Mountains, and to enrich the community by offering programs to meet its needs.
The Village at Blue Mountain Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our local communities through its financial support of registered charitable organizations in the areas of health, human services, education, the arts, culture, the environment and recreation, with an emphasis on underprivileged children and family programs.
The idea for the Foundation was derived from similar successful Foundations established at other Intrawest Resort Communities.
The Foundation is dedicated to the financial support of registered charitable organizations in the Georgian Triangle and Throughout Ontario whose activities provide benefits to the residents of our local communities and the Foundation will give special attention to programs focussed on helping children and families who come from disadvantaged backgrounds or are going through difficult times attain a better quality of life and develop their full potential.
Since July 2004, the Foundation has raised approximately $100,000 through its annual charity golf event, sponsorship and donations.
The Foundation is now accepting the next round of funding applications. Information about filing applications for funding and events can be obtained at the Foundations website, a link to which is provided, or by calling Deb Piggott, Foundation Coordinator at 705-445-0231 ext 7052.
