The stationary store is closing, but the Blue Mountains Courier-Herald newspaper will still be in your mailboxes and on news stands every Wednesday as it has for the past 136 years.
The closing of the store was announced recently as part of a larger, regional reorganization by Metroland North Media, the newspaper's parent company.
The reorganization presents opportunities for growth in design, content and personnel. Meaford Express editor Scott Woodhouse is taking on the role of regional editor for the print and online editions in the Georgian Triangle area: The Courier-Herald, The Express, The Collingwood Connection, The Stayner Sun and The Wasaga Sun.
Scott will work with a team of talented writers, editors and layout artist to produce online and print editions that not only inform readers what is happening, but also why it is happening.
The Courier-Herald, and its sister paper The Express, will continue to offer a growing range of print and online services to meet the needs of readers and their communities.
Current online services include the Courier-Herald's website, and several regional sites - which offer a variety of opportunities to buy and sell products in a region that includes Grey and Simcoe counties.
We are grateful for the long service of editor Rob Potter and office administrator Diane Rowles, and wish them well in their future endeavours.
The Thornbury news desk is being moved to the Meaford office. Editorial inquires and submissions of community news, letters to the editor and sports news can continue to be sent to courierherald@rogers.com. Woodhouse can be reached at swoodhouse@simcoe.com, in Meaford at 519-538-1421, ext: 24, or at The Connection at 705-444-1875, ext: 23. Meaford reporter Chris Fell can be reached at chris.express@rogers.com.
Craig Widdifield (cwiddifield@simcoe.com) has taken on the duties of managing editor. John Devine (jdevine@simcoe.com) is group editor.
Advertisers will continue to be served by sales representatives Lynn Sexton (lsexton@simcoe.com) and Lynn Hume (lhume@simcoe.com). The Courier-Herald phone number will remain 519-599-3760.
