Perhaps you were among the many volunteers in our community who recently celebrated National Volunteer Appreciation Week.

Or maybe you just saw one of the many posters or advertisements that heralded this occasion.

But if you are a BVO volunteer, you could have been among our many, many volunteers who attended BVO’s second Volunteer Appreciation Day held at our local Presbyterian Church.

You see, when BVO says “Volunteers are the heart of BVO”, we really mean it and we want to show it in a special way.

So, we offered a variety of 14 “funshops” to our volunteers including Card Making with Sylvia McMurchy, Tai Chi with Anne Fisher, Holy Crow Beads with Bev Smith, Pottery with Carol Hahn, Reflexology with Marianne Gawlytta, Cooking Demonstration with Andrew Harris, BEAM Therapy with Ellen Norman, Bucket Party with Alison McGuire, Facials with Inspiration Wellness Centre and Spa, Shiatsu Therapy with Dawn Wansborough, Woodworking for Women with Brenda Rogers, Paint Spring with Lora Gibson, Meditation with Lorraine Lowe and last Beaver Valley Glassworks.

Our heartfelt “Thank You!” to all these wonderful and talented people.

Not only did our volunteers get to choose the events they’d attend in the morning and/or the afternoon but a great breakfast was served in the early morning a hot catered lunch was served in the beautiful Church Hall at lunchtime. Mayor Ellen Anderson joined us for lunch and gave a delightful speech about how BVO and its volunteers continue to “make good things happen in our community”.

BVO is always looking for more volunteers to help us with all our various programs and services we offer the The Blue Mountains. This is a wonderfully supportive and generous community but we can always use more helping hands or more financial support. So please help us if you can by contacting Carolyn Letourneau at 519-599-2577 ext. 21 or e-mail info@bvo.ca.

Also, please check out BVO’s website, a link to which is provided.

Then maybe you’ll be able to join us at our next Volunteer Appreciation Day and you’ll be the one saying what I overheard a number of our attendees say….”Boy, that was more fun than I’ve had in a long time & it sure is nice to be appreciated”.
